While the first duo album, 2021’s Home On The Midrange, was a collection of all original tunes, that Acoustic Guitar magazine called, “a remarkable display of chemistry and imagination,” the new album for 2023, Over The Waterfall, digs deeper into the roots with a collection of all traditional old-time fiddle tunes. Recorded in the minimalist style of two players seated just a foot apart in front of a stereo microphone, and mixed by Skye with a golfer's intent of hitting the ball as few times as possible. There’s a clear absence of hot licks and breakneck tempos -others have that well covered. The aim here was to bookend each track with the simply stated melodies of these hallowed old tunes, but with some stretches down the rabbit hole as well. Always listening and reacting to each other in the moment, with watchful ears toward acoustic guitar tone and groove.
